The Trump administration changes in the current H1B reforms have led to shiver and fright among India immigrants awaiting Green card processing. But the recent decision by USCIS stating that it was not considering proposal to force H1B holders to leave US. Days after the Trump government stated it was considering tightening H1B rules and which could lead to deportation of over 5 lac Indians currently waiting for Green Card process.

“The Trump Administration’s decision to back off this counterproductive proposal is a positive step forward,” said Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. She also stated, “H-1B visa holders, many of whom become small business owners and job creators, drive innovation and help build and strengthen our economy. While it remains a priority to invest in training and create a pipeline of skilled American workers, we must continue to leverage the talent and expertise of the hundreds of thousands of H-1B visa holders to fill the gaps in our domestic workforce”

"I welcome the decision by the US Citizenship and Immigration Service to allow H1-B visa holders to continue to apply for visa extensions while awaiting their green cards," Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi said.

"While we must continue to invest in developing the skills of our domestic workforce, this decision avoids hurting American businesses and workers, while keeping families together in the process," he said in a statement.

"In short, that proposal was un-American. I am glad that the Trump administration listened to us and others," he said.

Suhag Shukla, Hindu American Foundation (HAF) executive director said, "the results would've been devastating. Devastating to these law abiding, tax paying workers and their families who have made America their home. Devastating for America by causing an unprecedented brain drain of skilled workers and potential entrepreneurs. We're grateful for the swift response by Representatives Tulsi Gabbard and Kevin Yoder in expressing to the administration the detrimental impact the proposed changes would have on the American economy and credibility, US-India relations, and families of skilled workers,"
