Cricketer drives his car onto Railway Platform

A former IPL player was arrested on Monday for allegedly driving his car onto a railway platform of the Andheri railway station. The incident occurred at the rush hours that caused chaos among the crowd, police said.

24-year-old Harmeet Singh represented India in the 2012 ICC under-19 world cup and also played for the Rajasthan Royals in 2013.

Harmeet directly drove his Huyandai car onto the platform number one of the crowded station at around 7:20 a.m.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) immediately took action and confiscated the player’s car and arrested him, a senior RPF official said.
Harpeet has been booked under sections 147 for trespassing, 145 (b) for committing nuisance and act of indecency, 154 for endangering the safety of passengers and other relevant provisions of the Railway Act, the official said.

Abhishek Shehawat tweeted: “Former Indian U-19 player & part of Mumbai Ranji team Harmeet Singh drove his car to Andheri station. Not sure what this spinner was thinking”.

Currently Harpeet is representing Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji trophy. He made his debut in the first class cricket for Mumbai.

His name was also cropped up in the list of players allegedly involved for spot-fixing, given to police by a bookie. But, the bookie said that as Harmeet was so young at that time the idea to approach him was dropped. Hence the cricketer was later given clean chit by the BCCI.
