Flags to be lowered for North Carolina soldier

A fallen North Carolina solider, who was killed in Afghanistan fighting terrorism has returned home.

Governor Roy Cooper has ordered that all American flag at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of  Corporal Dillon Baldridge.

A procession was held Wednesday for Baldridge.

The governor has ordered that all flags be flown at half-staff beginning Thursday and continuing until sunset Friday in remembrance of Baldridge, of Youngsville.

Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown North Wilkesboro to pay their respects on Wednesday.

City of Charlotte tweeted: CMGC flags are at half-staff in remembrance of Sgt. Dillon C. Baldridge. Baldridge, of Youngsville, was killed June 10 in Afghanistan.

The 22-year-old soldier was among the three soldiers who died of gunshot wounds on June 10 in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan.

They were part of the 101st Airborne Division based at Fort Campbell, located on the Kentucky-Tennessee line.
