Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has initiated a case for domestic abuse against her spouse, Peter Haag, and has requested Rs 50 crore for lost income due to him. Jaitly and Haag tied the knot in 2010 and are parents to three kids—Winston, Viraaj, and Arthur. Known for her roles in films like No Entry, Apna Sapna Money Money, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, Golmaal Returns, and Thank You, Jaitly lodged a complaint in a Mumbai court on November 21, which led to Haag receiving a notice. In her complaint, Jaitly, who is 47, described 48-year-old Haag as a “narcissistic” and “self-centered person” who shows “no empathy” towards her or their children. She asserted that she experienced significant emotional, physical, sexual, and verbal mistreatment from Haag, which ultimately compelled her to leave her home in Austria and return to India. Jaitly, represented by a legal team from Karanjawala & Co., requested Rs 10 lakh for monthly support and asked the court to keep Haag away from her home in Mumbai. She also sought to obtain custody of their three children, who are currently living with Haag in Austria.
She mentioned that Haag, after they became parents, “forbade” her from working under various excuses and “took away her financial freedom and dignity.” She mentioned that she could only take on “small jobs with Haag’s approval” occasionally. Her request also noted that Haag had submitted a divorce petition in an Austrian court in August of this year. Celina Jaitly and Peter Haag welcomed twin boys in March 2012. Five years later, they had another set of twin boys, one of whom unfortunately passed away due to a heart condition. The former Miss India and Miss Universe runner-up also posted a heartfelt message on social media for Haag on their anniversary last year. “Fourteen years ago today, Peter Haag came to Mumbai for just 8 hours (he had an important meeting the next day) to meet my parents. I was unaware he sought their blessing to propose to me... That same night before leaving, he proposed to me with a ring,” she shared on Instagram.
She remarked that he proposed to her at the same location where her mother had told her she would meet her “right one.” “She predicted at that very spot, on that same sofa where Peter proposed to me: ‘The wrong one will find you in peace and leave you in pieces, but the right one will find you in pieces and lead you to peace.’ Today, fourteen years later, after many ups and downs, we reflect together on all we were meant to experience,” she expressed. “Marriage should rise above all minor disagreements... Marriage should transcend everything that defines us as human,” she added.
