Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, the upcoming flagship smartphone from the company that doesn’t fold, might see a significant upgrade in RAM. According to a report, this device might come with the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X RAM, which was first revealed by the semiconductor branch of the South Korean tech company in April 2024. This new RAM is believed to enhance the phone's performance by 25 percent while also boosting energy efficiency by the same amount. The smartphone is anticipated to be introduced alongside the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge models. A report from SamMobile, sourced from a now-removed post by tipster @UniverseIce, suggests that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may include LPDDR5X RAM capable of 10.7Gbps data transfer rate. Samsung presented this DRAM in April 2024 and made it using a 12nm process technology, which makes it the smallest chip size among the current LPDDRs.

In the announcement, the tech giant stated that the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM would elevate performance by more than 25 percent and increase capacity by over 30 percent when compared to the previous version. It is also expected to enhance power efficiency by 25 percent. While SamMobile suggests that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be the first Samsung device to feature this RAM, a conflicting report from GSMArena mentions it was also used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Since the company does not officially disclose the RAM type, it is hard to determine which information is accurate. Nonetheless, the South Korean tech giant also noted in the same announcement, "Mass production of the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X is planned to start in the second half of the year, after testing with mobile application processors (AP) and mobile device makers." If this schedule is accurate, the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X RAM would not be ready for use in a device until late 2024. By then, the Galaxy S25 Ultra would likely be too far along in production for this new RAM to be included. However, this is just a theory, and nothing can be confirmed until the company provides clarification.
