Samsung has introduced blood pressure monitoring for some Galaxy Watch users in the United States through the Samsung Health Monitor app. This new update enables users to check and monitor their blood pressure directly from their wrist on compatible models. The company explains that this feature is designed to help users observe trends over time and is not meant for medical diagnosis or treatment. In related news, early indications show that the Galaxy Watch 9 might already be in the works, as a firmware file connected to the device has been found on Samsung's servers. Samsung has activated blood pressure monitoring for certain Galaxy Watch users in the US thanks to the Samsung Health Monitor app. Models that support this feature include the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch 6 series, and Galaxy Watch 5 series. Users can assess and monitor their blood pressure straight from the watch, which provides readings for systolic and diastolic values, along with heart rate. To ensure accurate readings, the watch needs to be calibrated every 28 days using a standard upper-arm blood pressure cuff.
This new feature adds to a variety of health tools already available on Galaxy Watch devices, including ECG monitoring, alerts for irregular heart rhythms, and sleep apnea detection. Samsung also plans to incorporate passive monitoring later this year to display long-term blood pressure trends. Meanwhile, early leaks indicate that the Galaxy Watch 9 may be in development. A firmware file with the model number SM-L345U has been discovered on Samsung's servers by leaker Mohammed Khatri. Previous reports suggest this model number is linked to the upcoming smartwatch and is undergoing internal testing. Typically, Samsung refreshes its smartwatch collection every year, having launched the Galaxy Watch 8 series alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in July 2025. The next generation is anticipated to follow a similar timeline. If this pattern continues, the Galaxy Watch 9 might be released around July 2026, together with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. Some leaks indicate that the Galaxy Watch 9 might utilize the Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset from Qualcomm, while additional reports have hinted at its battery capacity, with more details likely to appear as the launch date nears.
