Google is thought to be creating a new alert feature called Pixel Glow for upcoming Pixel smartphones. Rumors about this feature began circulating last month, but it was recently hinted at during the Google I/O 2026 event. It is likely to be compatible with Gemini. The Pixel Glow feature is anticipated to launch with the Pixel 11 series, which is expected to be revealed later this year with the Tensor G6 chip. The first signs of this feature appeared in the Android coding. At the Google I/O 2026 Keynote, it seemed like Google hinted at the Pixel Glow feature while showcasing Gemini Omni. In a video, a person was shown holding what looked like a Google Pixel 11 smartphone, and towards the end, the area around the phone's camera briefly lit up. The glowing strip around the camera appears to serve as a notification light. This has led to discussions online, with many believing that this illuminated rear section could be an early look at the expected Pixel Glow feature. However, there’s a possibility that the light effect might be used to display AI-created images instead of being a physical feature. The phone in the video had a protective case, so it's unclear if Google demonstrated an upcoming Pixel 11 or an existing Pixel 10 model.

Google is likely set to unveil the Pixel 11 series during the next 'Made by Google' event, which may take place in August. The new Pixel lineup is rumored to come equipped with a Tensor G6 processor, which might be produced by TSMC using a 2nm manufacturing process. The Pixel Glow feature was initially found in an APK breakdown of Android 17 Beta 4. This feature, codenamed “orbit", alerts users with colors about notifications when the phone is lying screen down. It employs LEDs and is designed to work like a light bar. This feature, influenced by the Nothing Phone, may operate in conjunction with Gemini AI.
