A tornado ripped through the eastern part of North Carolina, leaving over a dozen gravely injured.
The storm hit the shores a little before 4 p.m. near the towns of Pantego and Belhaven, N.C. Gradually, it took a worse shape and hit as a tornado a few miles east in Ponzer, then another possible twister near Gum Neck around 4:45 p.m.
13 people were rushed to the hospitals, including a pregnant woman. The nature of their injuries is yet to be known.
The National Weather Service in Morehead City, N.C., said that although the debris indicates the strength of the storm as a tornado, it's path and intensity will only be clear by late Tuesday.
The super storm has uprooted trees and power lines and cause electricity outage at Belhaven.
The same storm system caused flash floods across parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia earlier in the day.
