Georgia TV anchor slips at top of N.C. Waterfall, died

A Georgia television news anchor Taylor Terrell was killed after she was swept over a waterfall in the Pisgah National Forest, near Asheville, North Carolina.

According to the US Forest Service spokeswoman Cathy Dowd, 24-year-old Terrell was wading in a creek at the top of Rainbow Falls when she lost her footing on rocks covered in algae. “The current swept her up and over the falls,” she said.

She was working as an anchor at WMGT in Macon, Georgia. She started as a reporter in August 2013 before being promoted to anchor. News director Brandon Long described Terrell as "a hard worker with a bright smile."

“Taylor’s diverse experiences have made her an asset to our team,”  Long wrote on Terrell’s website.

“She was a bright spot in the mornings for us here at 41NBC for about two years, and she loved working as a reporter,” he said.
