Mini India has broadened its product range in the Indian market with the introduction of its open-top model, the Cooper S Convertible. This model has been launched with a starting price of Rs 58.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for this car began last month, and deliveries are expected to start soon. It is the third model that Mini has released in India, following the JCW All4 and the Countryman SE All4. The convertible is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that generates 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque, and it comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that drives the front wheels. There is no manual transmission available. With this power, the vehicle can go from 0 to 100 kph in 6.9 seconds. Its maximum speed is capped at 237 kmph. Mini claims that the convertible offers a fuel efficiency of 16.82 kmpl.
At the front, the Mini Cooper Convertible showcases round LED headlights with matching daytime running lights. It has an octagonal grille with a blank center trim, dark horizontal elements, prominent 'S' badging, and large air intakes that give it a distinctive and sporty appearance. The convertible retains the familiar shape of the hardtop model but adds an electrically adjustable roof that opens or closes in just 18 seconds, even at speeds of up to 30 km/h. The side view is enhanced by 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and sturdy black cladding, including around the wheel arches, contributing to a stylish yet tough look.
Inside, the Mini Cooper Convertible continues the circular design concept with a two-tone minimalist interior, oval-shaped air vents, and a customizable dashboard crafted from eco-friendly materials. This is all brought together by a black and beige color combination on the dashboard. A 9.4-inch Android-based OLED touchscreen acts as both the infotainment system and the instrument display, featuring a head-up display. The features are similar to those of the hardtop model, including powered seats, Harman Kardon audio system, climate control, rearview camera, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and cruise control.
