We know that sugary and carbonated drinks causes obesity, diabetes and other health disorders a lot, the new study found that sugary drinks also leads to early puberty or menstruation.

The girl children, who consume more amounts of sugary foods and drinks, will have high waist and back than that of those who ignore sugary items. Frequent intake of such drinks also causes digestive and metabolic obstructions.

Researchers claim that girls who consume higher quantities of sugary drinks including colas are expected to start menstruate much earlier than other girls of the same age who don’t use that much of sugary drinks.

Researchers claim that they have analyzed over 5,500 American girls between 1996 and 2001. And during a expansive study involving nearly 17,000 children. The findings were published in journal Human Reproduction.

The lead author of the study Karin Michels of Harvard Medical School says, “Our study adds to increasing concern about the widespread consumption of sugar-sweetened drinks in the USA and elsewhere”.

Researchers reported that in the course of the study they found that girls who consumed between one-and-a-half servings of sweetened drinks per day had their first period 2.7 months earlier than those who had two or fewer sweet drinks a week.

Karin B. Michels was quoted by New York Times as saying, “Our findings are robust, and not dependent on body mass index…Sugared beverages are not healthy to begin with, and there should be heightened attention to avoiding them.”

Early menstruations and periods will show severe health effects in their future. Breast cancer, genital cancer, and gynec related problems will hit those people heavily.
