If you are a comic lover and swear by sci-fi potboilers, then Hollywood's latest big budget summer tent-pole, “Pacfic Rim” is sure to woo you.

Replete with action, adventure, ferocious battles and adrenaline-gushing special effects, the makers are expecting this Guillermo del Toro directed thriller to smash all records at the box office. The film was released in India on 12th July, 2013.

This Kerry Hayes / Warner Bros. Pictures stars Charlie Hunnam as Raleigh Beckett and Rinko Kikuchi as his co-pilot, Mako Mori, the robot pilots out on a mission to save the world.

Apparently, the movie is believed to have been inspired from a spate of Hollywood epic battle movies, so much so that at some point you feel if the makers were trying to pay homage to the classics.

From Godzilla to Clash of the Titans and from Star Trek to Matrix, there are several scenes and characters in the movie that seems to reprise the classics. For instance, the sea-creature called Kaiju looks uncannily inspired by Godzilla. So does the enormous 25 stories tall robot aliens – the Jaegers that will remind you of the giant aliens in Transformers and Iron Man. But nevertheless, Pacific Rim is worth a watch, especially for all who admire and enjoy epic flicks.
