Indian Women's Junior Team created history as they ousted Spain 4-2 to qualify for the  semifinals of the Women's Junior Hockey World Cup. This is the first time than women's junior hockey team has come this far, which truly makes the win historic.

Labelled as the underdogs of the match, the Indian girl truly held one's own as they doled out a high-spirited performance against the better-ranked Spanish, sealing a last-four berth for the first time in the history of women's hockey.

India scored four goals — Monika (10th minute), Navneet Kaur (34th), Vandana Katariya (41st) and Rani (48th) — while Spain's two goals were scored by Xantal Gine (7th) and captain Berta Bonastra (30th).

Although it was the Spanish girls who struck first, India equalized in the next three minutes. However, Spain took lead in next five minutes. It took just an outstanding reverse stick shot from the confident Indian girls to save the game. And after that there was no looking back!

In the second half of the game, India surged ahead making the scoreline 4-2.

India will battle the winners of the last quarterfinal between Netherlands and South Africa in the semifinal match to be played on Friday.
