H-1B, H-4 visas prudentially revoked in USA December 15, 2025 12:40
Due to the delay of H-1B visa interviews in India, individuals holding H-1B and H-4 visas in the US have reportedly received emails from the consulate that their temporary work visas were "carefully revoked." This situation arises as the US has announced intentions to increase monitoring of applicants' social media, which was previously directed at international students. A careful revocation of a visa is a temporary measure taken as a precaution and is not a permanent visa rejection. Immigration lawyer Emily Neumann notes that such revocations for H-1B and H-4 holders are increasing, even for applicants who have previously interacted with law enforcement without facing any charges. While a careful revocation does not change a person's legal status in the US, it indicates that the situation will be re-evaluated at the applicant's next visa interview. "Many of these cases had already been revealed and resolved in previous visa approvals. A revocation does not impact legal residency in the United States, but it means the matter will be looked at again during the next visa appointment," the attorney stated in a message on X. "It's hard to understand how this is a smart use of government resources when the matter was already checked earlier," the attorney from Houston noted. Neumann also shared an older social media message from the US State Department stating that screening for visas is an ongoing process. This news comes shortly after the State Department revealed that it would start checking the social media accounts of H-1B applicants and their family members on dependent visas, widening the review of online profiles that initially started with student visa holders earlier this year. "A careful visa revocation is a temporary, cautious cancellation of a visa by the Department of State (DOS). It is done "carefully," meaning out of caution or concern, especially when there are worries about the visa holder's eligibility, although this concern has not been fully established," reported Reddy Neumann Brown PC, an immigration law firm in Houston. Being present in the US during a careful visa revocation does not influence lawful residency; the person can stay until the visa naturally runs out. "The aim is to be cautious rather than regretful. By carefully revoking the visa, the government makes sure that the person cannot use that visa to enter the US again until the issue is sorted out," the firm also stated. In these scenarios, individuals can stay in the US, but if they leave, they cannot come back even if the visa has not expired, since the stamp is considered void.

India took back the lead in the series by bowling out South Africa for 117 runs in favorable conditions for fast bowlers in Dharamsala. Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, who stepped in for Jasprit Bumrah during his personal leave, started strong with three early wickets, while the other bowlers kept up the pressure. Aiden Markram fought back for South Africa with a fifty, but they fell at least 20 runs short of a competitive score, considering their powerful seam bowling. After Abhishek Sharma made 35 runs off 18 balls, India could handle a little hiccup during the rest of the chase. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube both took a wicket in their opening overs, but it was Varun Chakravarthy's remarkable four overs, giving away just 11 runs and claiming two wickets, that eliminated South Africa's hope of bouncing back. One of his wickets was Donovon Ferreira, the only other recognized batsman to score in double digits. Arshdeep had an expensive outing in the previous match, conceding 54 runs without taking a wicket, and faced extra challenges without Bumrah. In his opening over, he showcased the ideal bowling technique for utilizing a pitch that supports bowlers in T20 cricket. He bowled three deliveries to Reeza Hendricks, all on a similar good length targeting the middle and leg stump. Two of these deliveries moved away, narrowly missing the edge, and the third angled back in to trap him in front of the wickets. Rana was effective, swinging the ball late and gaining some seam movement, but the nature of his wickets was a bit puzzling. Quinton de Kock missed a full delivery, and Dewald Brevis was out bowled playing an ambitious shot, resulting in 7 wickets down within 3.1 overs. Markram and Tristan Stubbs managed to get through the rest of the powerplay, but Stubbs appeared uncomfortable. In his first over, Pandya produced just enough movement to catch Stubbs' edge, making the score 30 for 4. Corbin Bosch, one of the three batters who were dropped in the field, missed the first ball from Dube significantly: a 124kph delivery that nipped back to hit the top of the middle stump. In the 12th over during the match, Ferreira struck a six off a wrong'un bowled by Kuldeep without looking, marking the first boundary of the innings from a player other than Markram. This was the first occasion where India faced two strong batsmen simultaneously. The sixth partnership contributed 25 runs, but Varun dismissed Ferreira with a wrong'un that he completely misjudged. Varun repeated this success in his following over by getting Marco Jansen out with a cautious shot. Dube saw two catches slip through while bowling. Although Ferreira couldn't make a significant impact, Markram capitalized on Rana’s bowling in the 18th over, hitting his fifty and bringing South Africa's score over 100. It was now up to Markram to help South Africa reach 140, which would have been a competitive score. However, he ended up edging an easy ball from Arshdeep in the 19th over, leaving Kuldeep with two lower-order batsmen to target in the final over. Abhishek set the pace for the chase by swiveling to pull Lungi Ngidi for a six on the first ball. He then charged at Ngidi to hit a four in the same over and followed it with a six off Jansen in the next. When Abhishek hit Ottneil Baartman for a six in the fifth over, he brought India's score to fifty and reached 44 sixes in the first six overs of T20I innings, matching KL Rahul, who achieved this in more than twice as many matches. Rohit Sharma remains the only Indian with more sixes in the first six overs. The small target allowed Abhishek's opening partner Shubman Gill to settle in, but neither he nor Tilak Varma appeared comfortable with the significant seam movement on offer. Suryakumar Yadav hit two fours but scored only 12 runs off 11 balls. While Abhishek was batting, 60 runs were scored in just 5.2 overs; the remainder of the match saw 177 runs over the next 30.3 overs. If South Africa had scored twenty more runs, and/or if Abhishek had been out earlier, the contest could have turned out much closer.

On Friday, three representatives from the US House brought forth a resolution to end President Donald Trump's emergency statement that led to tariffs as high as 50 percent on goods imported from India. They labeled these actions as “illegal” and detrimental to American workers, consumers, and US-India relations. This resolution was led by Representatives Deborah Ross, Marc Veasey, and Raja Krishnamoorthi, and it follows a Senate proposal aimed at terminating similar tariffs on Brazil and limiting the President's use of emergency powers to increase import taxes. According to the announcement, the resolution aims to remove the extra 25 percent "secondary" tariffs placed on India starting on August 27, 2025, which added to previous reciprocal tariffs, thus boosting tariffs on various products from India to 50 percent under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Congresswoman Ross stated that North Carolina's economy is closely linked to India through trade, investment, and a strong Indian American community. She pointed out that Indian businesses have invested over one billion dollars in North Carolina, generating thousands of jobs in fields like life sciences and technology, while North Carolina companies send hundreds of millions of dollars worth of goods to India every year. Congressman Veasey mentioned that India is a key cultural, economic, and strategic ally, arguing that these unfair tariffs are an extra burden on North Texans who are already facing rising prices. On the other hand, Congressman Krishnamoorthi, who is of Indian descent, remarked that the tariffs were “not helpful, disrupt supply chains, hurt American workers, and increase expenses for consumers.” He emphasized that removing them would promote stronger economic and security partnerships between the US and India. Krishnamoorthi stated that rather than benefiting American interests or security, these tariffs are detrimental by interrupting supply chains, damaging American jobs, and raising consumer prices. He added that eliminating these harmful tariffs would allow the US to collaborate with India on shared economic and security goals. The resolution is part of a larger effort by Democratic members of Congress to question Trump’s one-sided trade actions and to improve America's connection with India. Earlier in October, Ross, Veasey, and Krishnamoorthi, along with Congressman Ro Khanna and 19 other Congress members, called on the President to change his tariff strategies and mend the strained relationship with India. The announcement stated, “Ending Trump's tariffs on India is part of a bigger plan by congressional Democrats to restore Congress's constitutional power over trade and prevent the President from misusing emergency powers to impose his flawed trade decisions.” In August, Trump enacted a 25 percent tariff on Indian products beginning August 1, followed by an additional 25 percent increase shortly after, citing India’s ongoing purchase of Russian oil, bringing the total to 50 percent, and asserting that it supports Russia's military actions in Ukraine.
Read MoreKhichdi vs Poha for Weightloss December 12, 2025 20:14
When discussing weight reduction, digestion is essential for how well your body takes in nutrients and gets rid of waste. Picking the right foods that promote digestion can greatly affect your weight loss efforts. In many Indian homes, khichdi and poha are two popular meals. Both are light and simple to cook, but which one is better for digestion and helps with weight loss more efficiently? In this article, we will look at the digestive advantages of khichdi and poha to help you decide which is the best choice for your healthy eating habits. The great thing is that you can easily prepare them at home or even order them from a food delivery service. Khichdi is often considered good for digestion because it has straightforward ingredients, balanced nutrition, and calming qualities. Simple Ingredients for Easy Digestion: Khichdi consists of rice and lentils, usually moong dal, both of which are gentle on the stomach and simple to digest. Rice, a source of carbohydrates, and lentils, which provide plant-based protein, come together to create a mild dish that is non-acidic and does not upset the digestive system. The smooth consistency of khichdi makes it easy to break down and absorb. Rich in Soluble Fiber: Lentils, particularly moong dal, have a high amount of soluble fiber. This fiber absorbs water in the digestive system, turning into a gel-like material that slows down digestion and supports the smooth flow of food through the intestines. Fiber also helps avoid constipation by adding volume to stool and enhancing regular bowel movements. Supports Gut Health: The mix of rice and lentils in khichdi is easily fermentable, acting like a prebiotic that feeds the good bacteria in the gut. A healthy microbiome aids in digestion and helps break down food. Khichdi also contains small amounts of spices like cumin and turmeric, known for their ability to kill germs and contribute to gut health. Spices That Fight Inflammation: Many types of khichdi include mild spices that promote digestion, such as cumin, ginger, turmeric, and asafoetida (hing). These spices have anti-inflammatory effects and can help calm the digestive system. For instance, cumin helps digestion by encouraging the creation of digestive enzymes, while turmeric is recognized for alleviating bloating and gas. Poha's fluffy quality and rich nutrients make it gentle on the stomach and help digestion work well. Easy To Digest: Poha is created from rice that has been cooked and flattened. This makes its digestion simpler than standard rice. It does not use as much energy from the digestive system, which is why it is often suggested for those with sensitive stomachs. The dish is light and does not lead to bloating that heavier foods sometimes cause. High In Fibre: Though poha is mainly rice, it is usually served with vegetables, peanuts, or peas, which add fibre to the meal. Fibre is crucial for good digestion as it helps food move smoothly through the digestive system. It increases stool bulk, helping to avoid constipation and support regular bathroom habits. Good For Gut Health: Adding ingredients like curry leaves, mustard seeds, and turmeric to poha can enhance gut health. For instance, curry leaves have anti-inflammatory benefits that support digestion. Mustard seeds help create bile, which is necessary for breaking down fats. Turmeric is recognized for calming the stomach lining and alleviating bloating or digestive discomfort. Probiotic Advantages: In some local recipes, poha is made with fermented items like curd or yogurt, which bring helpful probiotics into the digestive system. Probiotics are living microorganisms that help keep good bacteria balanced in the gut. A healthy balance of gut bacteria is vital for effective digestion, as it assists in breaking down food and absorbing nutrients efficiently. Both khichdi and poha are very easy to digest meals that can help with weight loss by enhancing digestion. However, khichdi is usually easier on the stomach because it is simply made with rice and lentils, making it perfect for people who have digestive troubles or are recovering from illness. Its high fibre and protein levels also make it satisfying, which can help with controlling hunger and ensuring you feel full longer. Meanwhile, poha is lighter, quick to make, and offers a good amount of iron and energy without overwhelming the stomach. It is excellent for increasing metabolism and supporting heart health, making it a good option for those seeking a lighter yet nutritious meal. Depending on your digestive requirements and weight loss objectives, you can add either dish to your diet for a healthy meal. Whether you prepare them at home or order them online, they will make a great addition to your eating plan.
Read MoreCan Non-Diabetics take Ozempic for Weight Loss? December 12, 2025 19:36
The popular diabetes and weight loss medication Ozempic has been introduced in India. Novo Nordisk announced the availability of a weekly injection of semaglutide on Friday, with an initial cost of Rs 8,800 for a month or four weeks. In India, Ozempic is approved to help manage diabetes, along with proper diet and lifestyle changes. This drug is offered in three strengths: 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, and 1 mg, delivered through a single-use pen called Novofine Needles, designed for painless skin injection, according to the company. The lowest dosage of 0.25 mg costs Rs 8,800, while the 0.5 mg is priced at Rs 10,170 and the 1 mg at Rs 11,175. For those who don’t know, Ozempic is the trade name for semaglutide, a medication primarily used for controlling type 2 diabetes. It falls under the category of drugs known as GLP-1 receptor agonists. These drugs act similarly to the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), a hormone that plays a key role in controlling blood sugar levels. The medication functions by promoting insulin release when blood sugar rises, reducing glucagon release (which increases blood sugar), and delaying gastric emptying. By doing so, it lowers blood sugar levels and enhances overall blood sugar control. Besides assisting with blood sugar management, Ozempic also supports weight loss by suppressing the feeling of hunger. It helps you feel satisfied more quickly and reduces how much you eat by acting on the brain's appetite centers. Furthermore, it slows this emptying process of the stomach, which results in feeling full after meals and leads to lower calorie intake. Ozempic can cause a modest weight loss of 5-15% over a year when used with a proper diet and exercise. It is important to note that it is not a miracle solution, and results can differ based on the dose and other personal factors. While Ozempic is not specifically approved for weight loss for those without diabetes, it may still help non-diabetics lose weight. It may be considered for adults who are obese or overweight and have at least one weight-related health issue, as long as they are under a doctor's care. For cosmetic weight loss (like losing a few pounds), the risks outweigh the benefits, so it's crucial to talk to your doctor before using Ozempic for this purpose. They can evaluate individual health circumstances and potential risks. Generally, Ozempic is well-tolerated, although common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. There are rare but serious risks such as pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, and possible thyroid C-cell tumors based on animal studies. Currently, there is no long-term data on cardiovascular outcomes for those without diabetes. Precautions and safety tips: If you are thinking about using Ozempic or have received a prescription for it, here are some helpful pointers for safe and effective usage: It is very important to talk to a doctor before starting Ozempic so you can find out if it is right for you, particularly if you want to use it for losing weight. Never use this medication without getting a prescription from your doctor. Follow the dosage and instructions from your healthcare provider carefully. Dr. Jhingan suggests, “Begin with a small amount, adjust carefully, and watch for stomach issues. You can increase the amount after three to four weeks.” If you have diabetes, make sure to monitor your blood sugar levels often to prevent hypoglycemia, which is when blood sugar goes too low. Use Ozempic along with a healthy diet that includes whole foods, fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins to get the best results. Make sure to add regular physical activity to your daily life to boost weight loss and improve your general health. Keep an eye out for possible side effects like feeling sick or having stomach problems, and let your healthcare provider know about them. It is also advised to have regular check-ups every four to six weeks at the beginning to assess how well you are handling it and to check your weight changes. Obesity is a condition related to lifestyle, and it can be controlled with effective diet and lifestyle changes. While medications such as Ozempic can help with losing weight, they should be part of a broader weight management approach that includes making lifestyle adjustments for lasting success.

In the context of improving relations with China and record-setting tariffs from the US, India has taken steps to speed up the processing time for business visas for Chinese business leaders. As per reports from Reuters, India aims to give business visas to Chinese companies in under a month by cutting down on the bureaucratic checks. An Indian official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated to Reuters, “We have eliminated the step of administrative checks and are now processing business visas within four weeks.” China’s foreign ministry recognized that India has made “positive moves” to support exchanges between people for mutual benefits. According to ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, China is open to ongoing discussions with India to keep improving the ease of exchanges, as reported by Reuters. The relationship between India and China worsened in 2020 due to rising border tensions at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The conflict started in early May when Chinese soldiers moved into debated regions, opposing Indian roadwork in the Galwan River valley and around Pangong Lake, which led to intense confrontations and clashes. Things escalated on June 15 when there was a violent encounter in the Galwan Valley, where Indian and Chinese troops fought physically, resulting in 20 Indian deaths and at least four Chinese fatalities, marking the first deaths on this border since 1975. Nevertheless, in the past five years, relations started to get better through ongoing diplomatic and military discussions, especially between the corps commanders at the LAC. Progress accelerated in 2024 with agreements on patrolling practices, leading to the complete pullback from the last confrontation areas at Depsang and Demchok by December 2024, after the 22nd round of talks among corps commanders in October. It is important to highlight that the US has significantly influenced the relationship between India and China. During President Trump's second term, US tariffs on Indian imports soared to an unprecedented 50% by August, prompting a shift towards China. Notably, the trade between India and China remains strong but is quite lopsided, with a total trade volume of $127.7 billion in FY25 (ending March 2025), up from $118.4 billion in FY24, making China India's second-largest trading partner after the US. As relations improve, the early part of FY26 (April-July 2025) showed a 19.97% increase in exports to $5.75 billion and a 13% rise in imports to $40.65 billion, indicating possible growth through renewed border trade and relaxed visa and investment regulations, even as India aims to diversify to lessen its dependence.

Gujarat Minister Rivaba Jadeja, who is married to Indian cricket star Ravindra Jadeja, has caused quite a stir by trying to praise her husband's remarkable discipline. At an event in Dwarka, Gujarat, she shared her views on the negative habits of the cricket team while reflecting on the tough choices that famous athletes have to make. "My husband, the cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, travels to many places like London, Dubai, and Australia for his cricket matches," Rivaba Jadeja expressed during her speech. "Even with all this travel, he has never indulged in any form of addiction or bad habits because he knows his duties. The other players may partake in these vices, but there are no limits on what they can do." The minister's comments highlighted the difficulties faced by professional cricketers who travel worldwide. “My husband has spent 12 years away from home; he has the freedom to do anything he likes, but he recognizes his ethical responsibilities - he knows what he should do," she mentioned. Her remark about "the other team members indulging in vices" has ignited a debate, with many arguing that this sweeping statement unfairly portrays Jadeja's teammates negatively in Indian and global cricket circles. Rivaba Jadeja's statements suggest that her husband's self-discipline distinguishes him in the challenging world of competitive cricket. This statement arrives during a critical phase in Ravindra Jadeja's career. While he continues to be an essential part of India’s Test and One Day International teams, he is no longer playing in T20 Internationals, and there has been a significant change in his domestic franchise career. The well-known spin-bowling all-rounder is about to start a new chapter as he reaches the latter part of his time in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In a notable trade, Jadeja has moved to the Rajasthan Royals, the team where his IPL career began, thus concluding his highly praised and successful association with the Chennai Super Kings. Returning to the Royals after many years with CSK, where he was a key player and a champion, represents a full circle for him. As Jadeja steps into this new role, likely as an experienced leader, his wife’s strong endorsement of his character adds another layer of attention to his public image. The cricket community is eager to see how he performs in this new team and how his players might respond to his wife’s broad and controversial statements.
