Inner corridor around Madaveedulu

Acting on the security alert by intelligence reports, the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) is taking necessary security steps for extra security near the holy temple. It has decided to set up inner corridor in the four streets encircling the shrine (also known as madaveedulu). The engineering officials have visited the place where inner corridor will be constructed.

It may be noted that the TTD has granted Rs. 2.95 crore for setting up the inner security corridor. This construction will start at the west corridor and and will extend up to Karnataka Sathram.  The TTD has initially called for a tender for Rs. 80 lakhs and completed the procedure. The contractor was called upon and handed over the work after showing the location.

It has to be mentioned here that there are totally four streets encircling the shrine where the utsav deities will be taken on for processions on regular basis. It is believed that Lord himself walks in Madaveedulu and pilgrims are banned from wearing chappals in these streets.

Whenever a procession takes place, people sitting outside the temple will usually rush to pray the utsav deities and touch the palanquin. Now that TTD has decided to built a corridor, devotees will lose this opportunity.
