Apple Aims To Develop Electric Car, Start Shipment In 2019Sci-Tech

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has reported that Apple aiming to unveil electric car in 2019. As a committed project, the company designated to build an electric car. It target for shipping date of the electric car is for 2019.

Citing people known with the matter, WSJ said that the code name of the project is Titan. The permission was given to the leaders to triple the team of 600 persons. The journal said that ship date does not necessarily mean for Apple the date when consumers get the product. Instead it could just be the date on which engineers sign off the main features of the product.

Over a year was taken by Apple to find out the feasibility of a car that is of Apple brand. The investigation also included meeting in California with two government group officials. Car experts are consistently being hired by Apple towards an effort to build a team in automated driving.

A former Volkswagen AG engineer, Megan McClain, was hired by Apple. He has an expertise in automated driving. Graduate researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, Vinay Palakkode was also hired by Apple. He is a graduate researcher at Carnegie Mellon University that is a hub of automated driving research. LinkedIn posting reveled that a senior engineer from Tesla Motors was also recruited by the company.
