Xiaomi is said to be getting ready to introduce a new small yet powerful tablet within the first half of this year. It might be released as either the Redmi K Pad 2 or the Xiaomi Pad Mini 2. A recent leak indicates that this upcoming device will aim for top-notch performance in a compact size, featuring enhancements in areas like the screen, battery life, sound quality, and processing power. This tablet is expected to replace the Redmi K Pad, which was launched last year and later renamed for international markets, suggesting a similar approach for this upcoming release. According to a translation of a post by Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the rumored tablet could be the next version of the Redmi K Pad. It is likely to have a unique 8.8-inch LCD display with a high 3K resolution and a rapid refresh rate of 165Hz. There are claims that it will have a big 9,000mAh battery, which is a significant improvement from the previous model that had a 7,500mAh battery.

The Redmi K Pad 2 will probably come with dual X-axis vibration motors and better-sounding dual speakers that are fine-tuned by Bose, according to the source. Interestingly, the Redmi K90 Pro Max and the Redmi K90 both had Bose-tuned speakers when they were launched in China in October 2025. The leak also mentions that this tablet might use the same advanced processor that is set to be featured in Xiaomi's new performance-driven smartphones, specifically the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC. The release is expected to coincide with a high-end smartphone in the first half of this year. The existing Redmi K Pad was released in June of last year and subsequently rebranded as the Xiaomi Pad Mini in some international markets. If Xiaomi takes the same route, the new model could be introduced worldwide as the Xiaomi Pad Mini 2.

Currently, the Redmi K Pad has a starting price of CNY 2,799 (about Rs. 33,000) for the version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and operates on Android 15 with HyperOS 2. It boasts an 8.8-inch 3.5K screen that supports a refresh rate of 165Hz, has Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and can achieve brightness levels up to 700 nits. The tablet is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, and it features a 13-megapixel camera on the back, an 8-megapixel front camera, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, liquid cooling technology, and dual X-axis linear motors.
