Several injured in North Carolina storms

The recent storms that hit the eastern North Carolina have left at least a dozen people injured. The Storm comes nearly a week after a tornado struck the region.

The storm hit Sampson County, which is about 30 miles east of Fayetteville at around 11:30 PM on Monday.

The assistant Sampson County manager, Susan Holder said to local reporters that at least 3 people were taken to hospitals. None of the injuries were life threatening, Holder said.

Trees fell on houses and cut the power line. According to Duke Energy reports about 1,800 customers were without service on Tuesday morning  and about 1,000 of those were in Sampson County.

Holder also said that the county received more than a dozen reports of flipped homes. A number of hog and poultry farm houses were destroyed.

A tornado that struck the county on May 23, heavily damaged several homes and a fire station in Autryville. No critical injuries were reported.

Schools were opening two hours later than usual in Sampson County and the city of Clinton on Tuesday because of road closures in the area.

The National Weather Service planned to send a survey team to Sampson County on Tuesday to determine if the damage came from a tornado or straight-line winds.
