Police have arrested a North Carolina man for allegedly murdering his father.
According to authorities the victim died from a 'traumatic injury resulting from a reported assault' in Boone on Sunday (April 9).
The victim’s son, whose identity has not been revealed, is suspected in the killing
The incident took place at around 2 a.m. near the 100 block of Stoneybrook Court, police said.
The father was taken to Watauga Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police Chief Dana Crawford said that the victim’s son is cooperating with investigators and is not believed to be a danger to the community.
No charges have been filed yet, Crawford said in a statement.
Crawford told to the local media that the case was a prime example of one, which allows time to do a thorough investigation up front and then carefully consider what charges, if any, are appropriate'.
She added that they would certainly include the District Attorney’s Office in this process.
